Just like last year, Lorena Wiebes got to celebrate again in Schoten. The Dutch rider started at quite a distance and sprinted convincingly to the win in the Scheldeprijs. She won ahead of Consonni and Barbieri.

On 6 April the elite women will prepare for the unofficial world championship for sprinters in and around Schoten. Which team has the strongest sprinter after the fast local rounds? In addition to the 7 UCI Women's World Teams, 18 UCI Women's Continental Teams will also appear at the start. So 25 teams will fight for victory in the second edition of Scheldeprijs for women. Wiebes sprinted to victory in the first-ever Scheldeprijs for women. She won ahead of Norsgaard and Balsamo. The harsh weather conditions made this first edition extra memorable.
On Wednesday, April 7, the very first Scheldeprijs for women is on the program. Start and finish will be in Schoten, Antwerp. With Bastianelli, Wiebes and Hosking among others on the provisional start list, it is clear that the teams selected their fastest riders with the finish in Churchilllaan in mind.

Not only is Flanders Classics proud that the list of six spring classics is now complete, the brand new race is also enthusiastically received within the women's peloton. No less than 6 UCI Women's World Teams are present for the first Scheldeprijs for women, with start and finish in Schoten.
