Men Elite race info

Course

On 5 April, Terneuzen will be the starting point for the oldest Flemish spring classic. At the beginning of the race, the circuit winds its way along the Ooster- and Westerschelde. The dykes and accompanying wind will not only provide beautiful pictures, but also ensure a tough race. Near Essen, the peloton crosses the border and the riders prepare for three local laps each of 17 km in and around Schoten. After that, will the sprint party begin or will we get another solo finish like Kristoff in 2022?

Start: Stadhuisplein in Terneuzen – 12:45
Finish: Churchilllaan in Schoten – around 17:15
Distance: 205,2km

Results 2022

The Scheldeprijs has the reputation of being the unofficial world championship for sprinters. Alexander Kristoff decided otherwise in 2022. As always, Zeeland provided the spectacle every cycling fan hoped for: echelons. The Norwegian Kristoff did not let himself be surprised, on the contrary. He opted for the breakaway and nestled himself into a leading group of 17 riders. With Bennett, Merlier and Philipsen, the leading group had plenty of fast men on board, including Kristoff. Yet, the Norwegian did not put his money on his sprinters legs. With an acceleration on the last passage over the Broekstraat, Kristoff got away alone to take his second victory in the Scheldeprijs, solo, 8 km later.
