A look ahead to the Scheldeprijs during the cycling evening in Terneuzen

On Monday 1 April, presenter Frits Bakker is looking ahead to the 112th edition of the Scheldeprijs. During this cycling evening in Terneuzen, you can enjoy the unique stories of cycling experts Adrie van der Poel, Roger de Vlaeminck, José de Cauwer, Frank van Zitteren, Natascha Knaven and Frank van Hulle.

In cooperation with Leve de Koers! from Terneuzen, an evening full of fascinating cycling stories is on the schedule for Monday 1 April. At 7.30 p.m., the Scheldetheater opens its doors for a unique conversation between presenter Frits Bakker and six cycling specialists, in honour of the start of the Scheldeprijs in Terneuzen on Wednesday 3 April. Entry to this cycling evening is completely free of charge, but be quick, because when tickets are gone, they’re gone! Tickets are available at this link. 

Adrie van der Poel is not only the father of current world champion Mathieu van der Poel, he is also a former winner of the Scheldeprijs. The former cyclist and cyclo-cross rider won the race in 1985 and is known for his technical and tactical knowledge of cycling.

Roger de Vlaeminck, better known as ‘Monsieur Paris-Roubaix’, is one of the most accomplished Belgian cyclists of all time. His impressive list of achievements also includes a victory in the Scheldeprijs in 1970. After his cycling career, he became team manager of several cycling teams.

José De Cauwer is a former Belgian professional cyclist. He is a commentator at Sporza and acclaimed for his factual knowledge of all major tours and cycling classics. Frank van Zitteren has been the race director of the Scheldeprijs since 2019. Before that, he spent over 20 years as race commissioner for Belgium’s best-known cycling races.

Natascha Knaven is a former Dutch cyclist who excelled in field, track and road cycling. She is a four-time Dutch cyclo-cross champion and after her career she became a physiotherapist and manual therapist. She is also owner and team manager with the AG Insurance NXTG development team.

Frank van Hulle is an alderman in the city of Terneuzen and also an avid cycling enthusiast.
