Three days after Flanders’ Finest, the cycling craze moves to Terneuzen and Schoten for an anniversary edition of the Scheldeprijs. At 12.45 pm the starting shot will be given in Terneuzen for a 199 kilometre race in which we will be looking for the successor to Jasper Philipsen. According to the provisional start list, we can look forward to a sprint with Merlier, Jakobsen and Groenewegen in Schoten. Or does the wind play a crucial role in Zeeland?

Two-time winner Jakobsen will be at the start in Terneuzen on Wednesday as the leader of Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl. The Dutchman won the Scheldeprijs in 2018 and 2019 and will now be looking for victory number three with lead-out Morkov and the fast Ballerini in support. Alpecin-Fenix is putting everything on Tim Merlier. After a string of victories, the Belgian descends to the Scheldeprijs with confidence. In his sprint train we find Rickaert.

Lotto-Soudal will bring talent Arnaud De Lie to Terneuzen. At Intermarché-Wanty-Gobert Matériaux we find the 2015 winner on the provisional start list: Alexander Kristoff. Bora-hangrohe will have Jordi Meeus, who came second on Churchilllaan last year.

Dylan Groenewegen will also make his appearance in Terneuzen. Within his team of BikeExchange-Jayco he will have Mezgec by his side. Team DSM puts everything on another Dutchman: Cees Bol. Trek-Segafredo is counting on Moschetti and UAE Team Emirates will bring the number 2 from 2018 to the start with Ackermann.

The French teams Arkéa-Samsic and TotalEnergies have us looking out for respectively the third of 2017 Bouhanni and the second of 2020 Bonifazio. For Bardiani CSF Faizane' Modolo will have to bring his fast legs, while Bingoal Pauwels Sauces WB will pull the card of Dupont.

Who will succeed Jasper Philipsen on the list of winners this year and thus be able to add the 110th edition of the Scheldeprijs to his record, is something we'll find out on Wednesday at just after 5 pm.
