Het Laatste Nieuws, April 3, 2013 - Worthy win for Marcel Kittel (Argos-Shimano) at the 101st Scheldeprijs (1.BC). German sprinter defeated favourite Mark Cavendish (Omega Pharma-Quick-Step) in massive sprint after a 204 kilometers half classic. Dutchman Barry Markus (Vacansoleil) finished the third. Kenny Dehaes (Lotto-Belisol), the seventh on the line, is the best Belgian.
Het Nieuwsblad, April 3, 2013 - The Scheldeprijs is a race that suits sprinters perfectly and as a consequence Mark Cavendish if the favourite to win today. After he already won in 2007, 2008 and 2011 he could score four today and become the one and only record holder. Which means that he would also receive the diamond he asked for. “We do our best to please Cavendish”, said organizer Piet de Smet.
Het Laatste Nieuws, April 2, 2013 - André Greipel is not going to start in the 101st Scheldeprijs. Tomorrow Lotto-Belisol will rather play Kenny Dehaes and Frédérique Robert’s cards to try and win the Belgian event.
